Strength

Strength
“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength” is a quote said by Arnold Schwarzenegger.  I personally like this quote very much because it is straightforward and is easy to understand. It means a lot to me also because there are times when we all want to quit or give up but this acts as inspiration and gives you the strength to make an extra effort and not give up.
The first part starts off by saying “strength does not come from winning” which means that just because you won does not mean that you are stronger or better than everybody else. Most people get the wrong message when they excel in something, they imply that they are the best and cannot be surpassed by people below them. But that is the worst way possible of thinking about such a situation, as anyone can achieve their goal and anyone can be better than you. So if you have won something do not stop working hard which I forget sometimes but I try to remember because there is always someone out their working harder than you to be better than you at what you are good at.
This brings me to the second part of the quote “Your struggles develop your strengths” which is the way I have learned a lot in life, especially in the gym. When a person struggles they work hard on their issue and try to overcome any obstacle which stands in their way. When a person overcomes that obstacle through struggle they are a much more conditioned and tough than a person who achieved the goal without struggle. How is that any better you ask? You don’t stand up forever, you eventually fall; if you’ve fallen before and gotten up you have the ability to make it happen again unlike the person that was stood up by an outside force. That strength that you develop can never be taken away from you just like knowledge.
Which brings me to the final and most important part of this quote “When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength” which simply means that not giving up is strength. And to not give up you must struggle and when you pass that struggle you don’t give up which is strength that you’ve gained, no matter if you won or not. So never be afraid to struggle and when life throws curved balls at you, remember not to give up and you will be the real winner; I have applied this quote to my day to day life and I humor you not it serves as a key to success.

  1. this is a good comment because you always have those body builders who think they are all big an mitty but when it comes down to a battle of wits they will lose because you cant determine strength off of just winning you you have to get through your struggles that you have before you can undergo your weaknesses.

  2. I really enjoyed this, for I am a human who just wants to throw in the towel and quit sometimes. The idea of quitting, I believe, is a human idea, animals do not quit at all, they will do anything and never give up. And I also agree with the second part of the quote, my hardships that I have gone through have made me stronger, not quitting when things get hard make me a better person, good post!
